Ingredients
- 6 tbsp mayo
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 2 large whitefish fillets, skinned
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3 tbsp whole wheat flour
- Vegetable oil, for deep-frying
- Lemon wedges, to garnish
Directions
-
Combine the mayo and garlic in a small dish. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate while you cook the fish.
-
Cut the fish into 1-inch strips. Dip the strips in the egg, then drain and dredge in flour. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 350-375 or until a cube of bread browns in 30 seconds.
-
Fry the pieces of fish in the hot oil for 3 to 4 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the oil and drain on a dish lined with paper towels.
-
Remove the garlic mayo from the fridge and stir once. Serve the fish on an attractive dish, garnished with lemon wedges, with the mayo on the side for dipping.
