yellow cake orange curd chocolate frosting

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 C cqke flour
  • 1 1/2 C all purpose flour
  • 1 T baking powder
  • 1 t salt
  • SIFT
  • 2 sticks butter cream with
  • 1 3/4 C sugar
  • 4 eggs one at a time
  • CREAM
  • 2 t vanilla ext
  • 1 1/4 C milk at room temperature
  • add flour and milk at room temperature to creamed butter

Directions

  1. 8 inch pans with parchment paper=MUST BE AT LEAST 2 INCHES HIGH

  2. Butter cake pans

  3. Put parchment paper in bottom

  4. Flour pans

  5. Fill pans

  6. Bake 350 degrees for 30 minutes

  7. Orange Curd

  8. 12 egg yolks

  9. 1 1/2 C sugar

  10. zest 2 oranges

  11. 1/2 C lemon juice

  12. 1/4 C plus 2 T orange juice

  13. Stir with wooden spoon on medium low heat.

  14. Cook until wooden spoon coated

  15. Add 2 sticks plus 5 T cold small pats cold butter

  16. Chill

  17. Cut each cake in half horizonally

  18. 1/2 C orange curd for each layer leaving about an inch all the way around

  19. toothpicks

  20. Chill in refrigerator

  21. FROSTING

  22. 1 pound unsweetened chocolate

  23. 2 2/3 cut whipping cream that has been brought to a boil

  24. 1 t cornsyrup

  25. Melt chocolate cream mixture

  26. Add 2 sticks plus 5 T cold butter-cut into size of pats of butter

  27. Frost and chill
