Rachel’s French Toast Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 Challah, sliced
  • 8 Eggs
  • 2 C Milk
  • 1 1/2 C Half & Half
  • 2 tsp Vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp Cinnamon
  • 3/4 C Butter
  • 1 1/3 C Brown Sugar
  • 3 Tbsp Light Corn Syrup

Directions

  1. Butter 9×13 baking dish.

  2. Arrange slices of bread on the bottom.

  3. In large bowl, beat eggs, milk, Half & Half, vanilla & cinnamon.

  4. Pour over bread slices & refrigerate overnight.

  5. Pre-heat oven to 350.

  6. In small saucepan combine butter, brown sugar & corn syrup. Heat until bubbling. Pour over bread & eggs.

  7. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes.

  8. Tips:

  9. Don’t need syrup because of glaze

  10. Sprinkle powdered sugar to look pretty

  11. May not need all of the egg mixture – once bread is covered, discard the rest.

  12. After setting overnight, pour off extra egg mixture

  13. When baking, flip pieces over so they don’t get mushy.
