This is a very old recipe I found in my mothers files. I remember getting to take sips of it as a child…not very much…I remember it being a sweet wine. I actually looked it up on line and her recipe was exactly like the one on line…I used their words for my directions.
This is an easy recipe for homemade wine. You can choose whatever flavor you like…but DON’T USE A CITRUS flavor. Grape is perfect.
This wine is a bit stronger than regular table wine. It is great for cooking as well as drinking.
- sugar
- frozen juice concentrate...any flavor except citrus...thawed.
Old farm recipe.
- peeled sliced cucumbers
- sugar
- ground pepper
- vinegar
- salt
- whipping cream
- small sweet onion sliced
Serve with mashed potatoes, green beans, Czech sauerkraut…or any of the other Czech side dishes or salads…homemade bread is good for sopping up the gravy!
- garlic
- large fresh pork butt roast
- salt
- pepper
Chili is good served with grated cheese, chopped onion and jalapeno peppers on the side as toppings (optional). Also crackers or cornbread. I prefer using “Gebhardts” brand chili powder.
More of a chili stew…some people like beans in their chili…this has a little different twist…
- Half of a 3 ounce bottle of Gebhardts chili powder
- water as needed
- medium potatoes cubed
- diced tomatoes
- medium onion chopped
- ground cumin
- bacon grease or olive oil
- garlic minced
- whole cumin seed
- salt to taste
Serve this instead of Turkey for Christmas dinner…your family will be impressed.
- fresh stems of parsley
- large onion
- garlic cut in chunks
- olive oil
- dry rosemary leaves
- salt & pepper to taste
- water
- duck
- "Brown-n-Bag"
My mother always made dressing this way…it is really pretty easy and always good. You can use turkey, chicken or duck necks and broth. Sometimes if I don’t have enough of my own broth I will use a can of prepared broth. When I have my husband’s family over I will 5 x’s the recipe.
