Vogue magazine used to include recipes in its home entertaining articles. One of my favorites was a creamy dip I found in a piece about garden parties. Fresh herbs give this dip a delicate green color while garlic adds an assertive flavor. To slim down the original, which was made with heavy cream, my version of this refreshing dip uses low-fat cheeses and sour cream. I serve it with carrot sticks; red, yellow, and orange pepper strips; and cherry tomatoes.
Fast Fact: Dill is rich in antioxidant carotenoids.
Quick Tip: Use a sharp scissors to snip both chives and dill, rather than chopping them with a knife.

I used cardamon-seed insides instead of ground cardamon, and more than recommended, and I think it overwhelmed the pineapple-flavor, but parents disagreed. Cardamon is very interesting and fragrant and delicious. I also added some pineapple chunks from the can the juice came out of, and I think that was a welcome addition. Anyway, good good and not difficult at all. Made it again at Mom’s request, Dad liked it quite a bit.

Cocoabliss tip: It’s really messy to purée in a blender or food processor. Reverse the process with an immersion blender: Take out what you don’t want to purée and keep chunky and buzz the rest with your stick right in the crock-pot. Then put the reserved chunks back in. Could also be nice with other cheeses, e.g. gouda with cumin, mozza, etc. Would be nice with broccoli, peas, lentils, etc. Subsitute part of potatoes for cauliflower or old bread. Modify spices. Use back bacon, leftover sausage or sandwich meat instead of bacon. Use white wine for part of water or stock. Throw in corn instead of cheese for a potato/corn chowder….. possibilities are endless!
