Sergiy’s Cabbage Salad

Ingredients

  • Cabbage 3 - 4 kg
  • Carrots, shredded
  • Garlic to taste
  • 1 Liter water
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 1.5 cups corn oil
  • 2 Tbsp salt
  • Spices (if you like it "spisie")
  • 1.5 cups white vinegar

Directions

  1. Mix up ingredients that are not vegetables. Put them in a pot and bring to a boil.

  2. Cut up cabbage and carrots as desired and put them into a heat-proof container, removing air as necessary.

  3. Dig hole into center of cabbage/carrots and drop in sufficient garlic (pressed) into center to taste.

  4. Once boiling, pour hot liquid over vegetables and cover.

  5. Let stand 12 – 24 hours prior to serving, and put remainder in refrigerator
