Orange Honey Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons grated orange rind
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup orange juice
  • 3/4 cup chopped nuts

Directions

  1. eheat oven to 325.

  2. Cream the shortening, add the honey and mix together thoroughly. Add the egg and orange rind.

  3. Sift the flour with the baking powder, baking soda, and salt and add to the creamed mixture alternately with the orange juice, stirring only until flour is dampened. Add the nuts.

  4. Turn in a greased 9-inch loaf pan, bake 70 minutes.
