Texas Eggs

Ingredients

  • 9-10 slices buttered white bread, cubed, crusts removed
  • 8 oz. cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/2 t dry mustard
  • dash or two of pepper
  • 1/2 lb. bacon, cooked and crumbled

Directions

  1. Put 1/2 bread in buttered or sprayed casserole.

  2. Spread bacon over bread.

  3. Place rest of bread on top.

  4. Sprinkle cheese over bread.

  5. Combine beaten eggs, milk, and seasoning.

  6. Pour over casserole.

  7. Press down with a fork until all bread cubes are submerged.

  8. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

  9. Bake at 350 covered 30 minutes, uncovered 30 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes.
