Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 5 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup mashed bananas
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- 1/2 cup blueberries, if desired

Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add cinnamon and nutmeg and stir.

In a large bowl, cream sugar and butter or margarine. Beat the egg slightly, and mix into the creamed mixture with the bananas, then add vanilla. Mix in sifted ingredients until just combined. Stir in milk and nuts. Add 1/2 cup blueberries or raspberries if desired. Spread batter into one greased and floured 9×5 inch loaf pan.

Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) until top is brown and cracks along the top 50-60 minutes, or more as needed after toothpick test.
