Shavige Uppittu

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Thin rice sevia
  • 1/4 cup Boiled mixed vegetables
  • 1 chopped Onion
  • 1 chopped Tomato
  • 4 chopped Green chillies
  • 1 tbsp grated Coconut
  • 1/2 tbsp chopped Coriander leaves
  • 1/2 tsp Lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp Curry powder
  • 1/4 tsp grated Ginger
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Bengal gram
  • 1/4 tsp Black gram
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. Break the lengthy sevia into pieces and keep aside.

  2. Boil 2 cups of water in a pan and add the turmeric, salt and sevia, bring to a boil.

  3. Remove from the heat and drain the water.

  4. Heat the oil in a saucepan, add the mustard seeds and allow to splutter.

  5. Add the black gram, bengal gram and stir fry.

  6. Add the green chillies, ginger and curry leaves, fry for 30-40 seconds.

  7. Add the onions and fry until turns to light brown color.

  8. Add the tomatoes and fry until gets tender.

  9. Add the salt, boiled vegetables, coconut and curry powder, mix well.

  10. .Add the boiled sevia, lemon juice and coriander leaves, stir in 3-4 minutes.
