Dill Vada (Sabsige-Sabbaski Soppu Vade)

Ingredients

  • Channa dal (Kadale bele) - 2 cups (soaked for 2 hours)
  • Onion - 2 medium finely chopped
  • Dill (Sabakshi soppu)- a bunch, finely chopped
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch
  • Garlic (1 pod)
  • Green chillis - 2
  • Cinnamon - very little (less than 1/4 of the stick)
  • Cloves (2)
  • Salt - to taste
  • Grated coconut - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable or corn oil for frying
  • coriender leaves to garnish

Directions

  1. Grind channa dal, ginger, garlic, green chillis, cinnamon, cloves and coconut together. Now add finely chopped onions, dill leaves, salt to the mixture and mix well.

  2. Heat oil in the kadai and make the above mixture into small vada shapes and deep fry in the oil at medium heat.

  3. Serve hot!
