Green Oat Tikki

Ingredients

  • 2 cups roughly chopped spinach (palak)
  • 2 cups boiled green peas
  • 2 cups dry roasted quick cooking rolled oats
  • 4 potatoes boiled and mashed
  • 2 tsp black peppercorns (kalimirch) powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tsp ginger-green chilli paste
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 4 tsp water
  • oil for cooking

Directions

  1. In non stick pan dry roast spinach for 2-3 minutes.Transfer to bowl, allow to cool.

  2. In a mixer, combine together roasted spinach, oats, green peas, water and grind the same for a minute taking care that the oats should not be crushed fully.

  3. Transfer to bowl,add potatoes,salt, black pepper powder,oregano,ginger-green chilli paste,lemon juice and mix well.

  4. Apply little oil on palms and make tikkis and give desired shape using mold.

  5. Heat 1-2 tsp oil in non stick pan, shallow fry the tikkis on medium flame from both the sides till it turns golden brown in colour.

  6. Repeat the above procedure for the remaining tikkis.

  7. Serve hot with tomato ketchup.

  8. Handy Tip

  9. Instead of spinach, you can use fenugreek leaves also.
