Ingredients
- 400g beef mince
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 peppers, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- handful chopped basil leaves
- 1 tblsp dried oregano
- 1 jar passata
- tomato puree
- Optional: 6 finely chopped mushrooms, 1 grated carrot (for sweetness), beef stock (for nutrients)
Directions

Heat dripping/lard in casserole pot on stove top on a medium heat.

Fry beef & garlic until starting to brown.

Add pepper & onions (& mushrooms) & fry until cooked.

Add oregano & tomato purée & mix well.

Cook for a few mins stiring continuously.

Add passata (& beef stock) & season with salt & pepper.

Add basil (& grated carrot)

Cook for 20-30 mins until reduced – stiring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Add more herbs/salt/pepper if necessary.
