Carmelized Turnips Over Greens

These Japanese turnips are sweeter and milder than regular turnips

Serves 4 people

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of diced peeled Japanese turnips & greens
  • 1/2 cup chicken or veggie broth
  • 2 Tablespoon butter
  • 2 Tablespoon sugar

Directions

  1. Cut the greens off; wash and coarsely cut and cook in a pan of water for about 15 minutes until tender.

  2. Place the diced turnips into a skillet with the broth and cook over medium heat; simmer until the water has evaporated and the turnips are tender, about 15 minutes.

  3. Stir in the butter, let melt, and sprinkle on the sugar. Gently cook and stir the turnips until the butter and sugar cook into a brown, sticky coating on the turnips, about 10 minutes. Serve hot over steam greens
